Building off the foundation of the forthcoming Volvo EX30 compact EV, this striking new model is designed to take on the road less traveled without breaking a sweat. Although we're awaiting the whole story, we couldn't help but gather some details. Given how few off-road-oriented electric vehicles the current market offers, this release will be exciting.
Although not much is known about the safety and technology features offered by Cross Country, we know that there will be an advanced Driver Monitoring System and sound system with a soundbar. The Volvo EX30 Cross Country may be rugged, but it doesn't trade in its considerable sophistication. A Swedish flag badge on the car's hood is an example of a subtle design touch that makes all the difference. Keen eyes will notice that early mockups of the Volvo EX30 Cross Country feature a considerable roof rack, but it remains to be seen whether or not it will be a factory standard for buyers.
The inspiration for this off-road variant, the Volvo EX30, already offers spirited performance: 268 horsepower on a single-motor rear-wheel drivetrain and 422 horsepower on the twin-motor all-wheel-drive model. The latter gives the Volvo EX30 the ability to travel from zero to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. We can only imagine that the Cross Country version will take this SUV's performance to new heights.
When looking at the Volvo EX30 versus Volvo EX30 Cross Country, it's clear that significant thought went into transforming the exterior to reflect its off-roading nature. For example, scratch-resistant black body cladding means you can bypass twigs and branches with less potential damage. Skid plates in the front, side, and rear protect your undercarriage when taking expeditions on roads less traveled.
Notably, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country also gets dark grille panels and additional ground clearance. These don't only bring a tough look to your SUV but also provide more freedom of movement on rugged terrain. Paired with 18- or 19-inch wheels, the Volvo EX30 Cross Country SUV is fit for adventure
While it appears the Volvo EX30 Cross Country will carry over many of the qualities and features of its sibling model, the Volvo EX30. With skid plates, scratch-resistant cladding, and a higher ground clearance, you can confidently drive on more rugged terrain. This makes it one of the only off-roading electric vehicles in its class.
We don't currently know when the Volvo EX30 Cross Country will be available, although we anticipate that it will follow the release of the Volvo EX90, potentially in Q2-Q3 2025.
We don't have pricing for the Volvo EX30 Cross Country as of this writing in January of 2025. However, we'll be eagerly updating this page as more information about this rugged yet luxurious EV comes out.
