An optimisation does not alter fuel consumption or emission levels.
An optimisation leaves your original warranty and service intervals unaffected.
Our optimisations take about an hour to install – and are always carried out by authorised Volvo Cars dealers.
With the Polestar Engineered Optimisation, you will get confident acceleration all through the rpms. Extra power in the mid-range, for instance when overtaking, makes all the difference.
How it works
A Polestar Engineered Optimisation increases horsepower with focus on the active driving, mid-range rpm interval, which is around 2 500–5 000 rpm in petrol models and 2 000–4 000 rpm in diesel. This delivers stronger acceleration and a more powerful overall feel.
Instead of experiencing a brief hesitation in the acceleration when your car shifts gear, you will have access to more power, making every millisecond count when you’re driving actively.
How it works
Every time a car shifts gear, it disconnects the power from the wheels for a short time. The shorter the time, the more constant the power. The Polestar Engineered Optimisation delivers faster gear shifts, resulting in more powerful acceleration.
With the Polestar Engineered Optimisation your car will accelerate faster when you push the throttle after braking. The engine maintains the optimal gear for the most efficient rpm. This provides faster response and more predictability, allowing you to feel in full control.
How it works
In a situation, where you accelerate after braking, e.g. when overtaking multiple vehicles, the Polestar Engineered software anticipates your intention and secures the right gear, with an rpm that reduces turbo lag and generates a quicker response.
The Polestar Engineered Optimisation secures the correct gear when cornering, allowing the car to maintain tyre grip. This both stabilizes the car and ensures the powertrain is ready to accelerate at the corner exit.
How it works
Any gear shifting during cornering can unsettle your car. The optimisation counters this by holding the optimal gear to maintain a higher rpm, thereby securing tyre grip throughout the corner.
Instead of feeling unbalanced on slippery or winding roads, an optimised car will generate more power to the rear wheels. This provides more balance and predictability when driving actively.
Normally, AWDs apply more power to the front wheels. With the Polestar Engineered Optimisation, you get better traction when more torque is distributed to the rear wheels at take-off and cornering.
Instead of experiencing a feeling of hesitation from your car when you give it more throttle, an optimised car will feel intuitive and react quicker to what you want to do.
How it works
With a Polestar optimisation the delay between the throttle input and engine response has been reduced. The engine responds more directly making the car more agile. This will provide confident power and direct acceleration.
The exclusive Polestar Engineered rear badge subtly lets the world know your car has been optimised.
Latest generation Volvos also have Polestar Engineered mode added to their drive mode selection menu.
